Kindermusik is the world’s leading music and movement program for children from birth to 5 years old. Research has shown that early music and movement activities positively impact whole child development in areas such as cognitive, emotional, physical, spatial and literacy skills.
Kindermusik at The SunnySide School offers a complete music program where both children and parents learn through Kindermusik’s tested designs.
Patty Avon is a licensed Kindermuisk educator and serves as director of the program. With an MA in special education, Patty has twelve years as a music teacher in grammar school, five in preschool, as well as twenty years as a private piano instructor. She is certified and licensed by the State of New York.
Carol Bilbao is also NYS licensed and certified as a special ed teacher for 22 years with the Board of Ed at PS 53. An entire life filled with musical accomplishments, Carol is trained in standard “Kindermusic” methods as well as modified special needs techniques.
Kindermuisk Offers an Early Start to Lifelong Learning
Created by early childhood music educators and informed by the latest research in child development, Kindermuisk programs provide early childhood learning opportunities through innovative music and movement curricula and involve families in the joy of their child’s development. Kindermuisk curricula are designed to be developmentally appropriate- each child is encouraged to learn at his or her own pace.
The most current research on child development indicates that a child’s fundamental learning takes place between birth and 7 years. At Kindermuisk, we recognize that all children are musical. Kindermuisk offers a child a broad assortment of activates to promote language development, social interaction, cognitive development, coordination and emotional development. Research supports that music helps prepare the mind for specific disciplines of learning, including math, science and language. One study referenced in a 1997 article in Neurological Research indicated that music training is far superior to computer instruction in dramatically enhancing children’s abstract reasoning skills, the skills necessary for learning math and science. |

For your 1.5 to 3 year old
Sing, chant, listen, move, dance, play simple instruments, enjoy CD’s and activity books at home. Designed to encourage self directed play and experimentation. Fostering emotional development on her confidence, curiosity, self control, and communication begins to take shape. Language skills are fostered with singing, rhyming, and object identification.
