This is a combination class that will include extensive elements in drama, voice, and performance. An in-house show in December will enable the children to share their skills and confidence, as well as allow parents to view the program and their child’s progress. |
In June, this class serves as the chorus for an older class in 2 shows outside the school that will include all the elements of a professional show including a crew almost as large as the cast to operate everything from the wireless mics and lights to the changing of sets and costumes. |
Ages 8 to 11Two offerings Friday at 3:40pm or 5:45pm (2 hours) |
Many elements are at each child’s fingertips in this class. Workshop, performance, singing, and choreography are woven into a fun and comprehensive framework for each class. |
Our focus is to have a complete and effective process which will lead us to a great product. This age bracket bonds well and quickly into a team concept. The development of social skills adds to the layering of many class aspects that bring the children to new levels of development. In June, the two performances will include all the elements so children grow accustomed to everything from bright lights and changing sets to the roar of applause. |

As in all drama classes at SunnySide, performance, music, and workshop are the elements we combine to create a complete and comprehensive class. In December, the first show will be straight drama (no music), as a way to generate new emotions and intensity which we feel will lead to more effective acting techniques. This concept is unusual in the local area. The subject matter will be real issues and characters very close to who the students presently are. We do acknowledge the desire of many students’s to sing, so the June show will be with music on a large stage complete with all the details of a Broadway show. |
